It’s Ben from Rocketdesk here. I’d like to invite you all to the first Guildford Unity User Group meetup. This is an event for developers who build games in Unity, where we can meet, share knowledge and make new friends! We have several speakers lined-up, giving brief talks about specific areas of Unity and helping you to make better games.
The meetup starts at 6:30pm on Thursday 31st March 2016. Put it in your calendar!
- A selection of fantastic anecdotes about Continuous Integration in Unity, by Ben Hymers, Playsport
- Topic TBD, by Andy Touch, Unity
- ‘Made With Unity’ and new licensing options, by Cathy Yates, Unity
- How not to use Unity: Input and Movement, by Nathan White, Lionhead
- Using ScriptableObjects to manage your game’s data, by Ben Ward, Supergonk
This free meetup will be very informal and relaxed, with networking and beer-drinking opportunities afterwards. Please come down, bring your colleagues, and join us! Space at the venue is limited, so please register to secure a seat. Unfortunately if you haven’t pre-registered then you won’t be admitted on the night, so make sure you sign up.
This event is open to studio devs, independent developers, start-ups, freelancers, students, and any others with a technical background. The meetup is Unity-focused though, so it’s a requirement to have a basic familiarity with the Unity editor and scripting.
The meetup will be held at the Surrey Technology Centre, 40 Occam Road, Surrey Research Park, Guildford, Surrey, GU2 7EF. Parking is available on-site; please park in the visitors bays at the front of the building. When you arrive please speak to reception and they will instruct you where to go. The Guildford Unity User Group is hosted by Rocketdesk, which is a new co-working space for game developers and other creative technology professionals in Guildford. We rent desks to indies, start-ups and freelancers, and help them to collaborate. More information on Rocketdesk is available here: www.rocketdesk.co.uk , or follow us on Twitter @RocketdeskUK
Rocketdesk is extremely grateful to our key sponsor, Stevens & Bolton, who are a Guildford-based law firm with specialist knowledge of the games sector. We’d encourage any developers with requirements for legal assistance to look them up, or contact us at Rocketdesk and we can make direct introductions. You can see more about Stevens & Bolton here: www.stevens-bolton.com
If you can’t make this date then don’t worry! The Guildford Unity User Group will meet regularly, every 2 or 3 months. If you’re an experienced Unity developer who is interested in speaking at a future meetup then please drop me a mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
